Fashion Focus 2008: Museum of Sustaneble Style

The catch…after a week or so, gone and heartbreak ensues. I felt that kind of heartbreak once before at the colette x Gap store in New York, then once again today, after visiting the Museum of Sustainable Style(MoSS).
MoSS, a supplement to this week’s Fashion Focus events, was located off the Millennium Park campus, at a West Loop raw space. And, truth be told, it was not technically a “pop up shop” in itself. Though, much of the garb was easily accessible (easy as in, right-around-the-corner at Pivot). Locating Chicago’s first eco-pop-up gallery near Chicago’s first eco-boutique was no coincidence, since the curator of the exhibit, Jessa Brinkmeyer, is also owner of the boutique.
As Chicago’s resident eco-expert, Jessa did a spectacular job of showing visitors that eco and fashion are two words that are rapidly becoming synonymous. Mannequins, were eco-chic from head to toe and the space was fun and interesting at every turn. If you weren’t looking at the fashion, you were noshing on raw/vegan delights from cru cacao, that stimulated the pallet just as much as it stimulated the eye. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the interactive Ecolect “petting zoo” stopped you before you left, a place where visitors could play with and “pet”the sustainable materials used in the garments.
But, alas, just like every other pop up concept we love, it’s already gone…
