Detroit: Incognito
A couple years ago when I had more pocket change to spend on clothing instead of rent, I would always drive down to Royal Oak and shop at Incognito. Situated on 323 S. Main Street, in a city known for its one of a kind shopping, Incognito has been pushing the fashion trends since 1982. Recently I’ve even been able to shop there more often because they’ve been having some pretty decent sales in the new year.
The store first originated as a mail-order sunglasses company. Long story short, the company kind of blew up and major publications were featuring their styles. Today, they have a collection of these sunglasses at their store at some of the best prices I’ve seen. They’ve been featured in Nylon Magazine and lauded by Detroiters like The White Stripes and MC5.
Besides sunglasses, which only take up a small section at the front of the store (the store is just an extension of the still-running wholesale company), Incognito has the best shopping for those looking for the unconventionally hip. Every time I stop by I die over their Miss Sixty wares and absolutely…gorgeous shoe and accessory collection. All the rainbow fabulous boots I have owned over the past three years have come from this store. The eyes will certainly wander in want when visiting. Beware.
