Attention Chicago Fashion Designers!

October 24, 2008
The Department of Cultural Affairs is accepting applications from emerging fashion designers like yourselves, located in the Chicagoland area, to participate in The Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy’s on State Street.
This fashion incubator program will give six emerging designers the opportunity to learn the business of fashion, marketing and merchandising of fashion from experts in the business, including Macy’s merchant team and other industry and business leaders in Chicago. The only catch is that you had to have completed at least one collection to qualify.
The selected designers will be offered sample production, showroom, and office space at Macy’s on State Street store for one year beginning March 2009.  In addition, the incubator will provide space for workshops and seminars for the local fashion community at large.
I encourage all interested parties to take advantage of this opportunity of a lifetime. Keep fashion in the Midwest!

I think that the Chicago Incubator is a fantastic concept and opportunity and I applaud Mayor Daley for being the innovative catalyst. The Atlanta Fashion Incubator is currently underway and we hope to achieve the milestones that Chi-town has but we seriously need the support of our City.
