The quaint lingerie shop sells handmade undies by local designers and hard-to-fit bra sizes. While I was there, a girl came in and asked for my exact size (I’m a “hard-to-fit” girl) and the woman behind the counter whipped out 10 gorgeous bras without blinking an eye.
The store also does a bi-annual fashion show to showcase emerging lingerie designers, which has already gained notoriety in WWD.
It’s boutiques like Birdies, with drive and talent, that will help shatter the “frumpy” misconception of the Midwest and I’m all for that.
From the outside all you see is a white facade, littered with stuffed animals and a hint of fluff through the window, Then, once you step into the white door, it’s like walking into a cloud, a very eccentric cloud. Through the fluff you’ll see Noland’s signature spandex, very minimally stocked, and not much else.
If not for anything else, visit this store for the aesthetic value. The mini acid trip that is sure to ensue will be worth your while.
