NYFW | Spring's Superstars: 8 Designers That Made Us Swoon During Fashion Week

Chicago fashion blog NYFW Spring Designers Fashion Week

It can be overwhelming to sift through the looks, so we’ve created a list of our favorites(and their runners up) from each day of New York Fashion Week’s Spring ’13 shows.

DAY 1

Jenni Kayne
The master at short suits and structured jackets, this season was no different. Rasta-prints were followed by hot pink dresses that are suited for the Barbie girl in every one of us, Jenni Kayne kicked off the week flawlessly.

Runners UpNicholas K, Katie Gallagher

DAY 2

Charlotte Ronson
The jock-hit-the-runway vibe resonates well with all the tomboys out there (shoutout!). The line became nostalgic for us with the athletic cuts, and confirmed that now is, in fact, the time to channel our inner Sporty Spice. Let’s not forget the neon PVC jackets.
Runners UpSunoRag & Bone

DAY 3

Alexander Wang
Cutouts, leathers, neutrals and the pseudo-boot sandal that has been aching to be designed mark the highlights of Wang’s show, and it really should go without saying that the finale left us glowing. Can we also talk about A$AP Rocky in the front row? Toast to the Gods.
Runners Up | AltuzarraPrabal Gurung

DAY 4

Derek Lam
Tantalizing textures owned this show. The cropped trapeze trench was positively sixties, and the A/W color palette was an interesting juxtaposition with the S/S silhouettes. This collection offers multiple super easy transitional pieces.
Runners Up | Timo WeilandThakoon

DAY 5

3.1 Phillip Lim
Our 80s rocker & 90s grunge girl hearts couldn’t handle this show. Florals channeling acid washes tailored to fit a perfectly cropped motorcycle silhouette layered with sheer plaid-paneled prints in neutrals. The Man Repeller said it best, “these ideas are always precisely in tune with the vibe of fashion week at large–essentially just cut up, reconfigured and ultimately tailored to suit his eye
exclusively.”
Runners Up | Chris Benz, Marc Jacobs

DAY 6

Rodarte
The Mulleavy ladies did it again with crystal jewels that offset the masculinity of the leather fringe and grommet leggings perfectly. If you have ever wondered what Cinderella would wear on a motorcycle, it’s Rodarte’s S/S 13 collection. This line is fit for the hipster princess in all of us.
Runners Up | J. CrewICB

DAY 7

Proenza Schouler
Leathers, cutouts, neons and prints ruled this line, per usual. We loved the prints created through the addition of grommets, because, let’s be honest, studs are so 2009.
Runners Up | Jeremy ScottElizabeth & James

DAY 8

Brood
Flower Power to the max, and we really cannot deny a crazy, colorful batch of prints thrown together. The structured, collarbone-baring jackets over textured racer back tanks was intriguing to say the least.
