For the Boys: In my Father’s Shoes

Photo clockwise from left: Adam Brody, Red Wing’s boot monument makes its way down Main Street in Red Wing, MN, street style photo from Scott Schuman of the Satorialist, and the classic “Irish Setter†style.
Unbeknownst to him, my father as it turns out, is a trendsetter. The avid hunter and fisherman was rocking the lumberjack-chic look long before it was adopted by hoards of hipsters. Case in point- for as long as I can remember, my dad has been rocking Red Wing’s work boots on job sites, and to trudge through countless Minnesota winters.
Straight from a factory in Red Wing, Minnesota, Red Wing boots are now popping-up everywhere from New York and GQ magazines, to the streets of NY, and with styles even being offered at American Apparel. Not only do their shoes come with safety features for workmen, but they are also made in the USA and are practically scuff-proof- which is sure to appease urbanites as well.
Work boots look perfect with jeans tucked in, or you can even do as Adam Brody did and wear them under chinos with your favorite grandpa cardigan and denim button-up. My favorite pair (other than the classic “Irish-Setter†that is) are the “Men’s 8-inch.†To purchase your own pair you can view a list of stores at their website.
To top off the look (and make my father proud) I would round-out the outfit with an earflap cap.
