Recessionista: Old School Shoes

I was in middle school when Dr. Martens hit it big. If you didn’t have a pair, you were, like, totally uncool. Now they’ve made a semi-comeback. Not as big as they were the first time around, but good enough for Agness Deyn.
I was inspired to find my pair when my friend Chad revived his middle school Docs while we were visiting each other in Chicago. Not only were they free, but they were already broken in and the leather was nicely distressed!
A las, my middle school feet and twenty-something feet are very different. If you were old enough to go through this trend the first time around, see if your pair is still around and fits. The edgy boot will create a bunch of new looks for nothing.
To keep your look fresh, pair them with something outside the grunge context. Balance out the chunkiness with tights or a slim pant. Keep them loosely tied and the boot won’t look so severe or combaty.
