Making Fun of the Midwest: Russell Brand On the Road

<>
Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Russell Brand used Midwest stereotypes to his comedic advantage.
The conversation begins with Russell explaining how he was “keen” on seeing our country and once took a road trip from Boston to San Francisco. He exclaims, “I heard Midwest people were a little doopy, and they were.” Then he starts speaking of a Noam Chomsky conversation he had with a “slack-jawed, cap-wearing, gap-toothed hillbilly.” Of course the incident took place in a field, and of course, livestock were present.
He doesn’t start talking about the Midwest until 6 minutes, so hang tight until you can fast forward. (Jezebel)
