Beauty Mark: The Break Up Hair Cut

A collage of photos with a woman standing next to a table.

By this point we’ve all had our fair share of break ups. No matter how mature you are about it, none of them are ever good. Even if it’s “mutual”, there are the little things that you have to adjust to, like: the lack of a consistent cuddle buddy and the weird “are they my friend or your friend?” scenario. Though, we also know, when every door closes, a window opens. In this case, that window usually leads to weight loss, smokin’ hot make out sessions, and, lest we forget, a brand new hair do’ also known as the “break up hair cut”.

So, here’s some REAL TALK. In July I went through a break up with my BF of 5 years and, like all break ups, it was uncomfortable for the above reasons. Fast forward two months and I can honestly say I’m doing really well(due to the latter reasons). I’ve lost a few pounds, canoodled with some nice fellows, and, got the break up hair cut(BUHC) of my dreams.

I had to work for the body and the booty but the hair was pretty much sent from heaven. Well, not heaven exactly but the Facebook angels, PR goddesses at Grace, ifergan and the hair spirits at Charles Ifergan.
I should probably explain…
For a minute I thought I could do without the traditional BUHC. My hair was long, bronde, and kinda ratty. Also, I had grown accustomed to throwing it into an effortless top knot or tossing on a head wrap. I didn’t mind, but, apparently, the universe did, so it dropped a nice little opportunity in my lap.
Two weeks ago, during my mid-day Facebook newsfeed scan I saw an update from a friend at Grace PR about a free cut and color. I decided to respond and within hours I was at Charles Ifergan(106 East Oak St. | Chicago, IL 60611 | (312) 642-4484) getting my hair done. The craziest part is that it was all for a WGN segment taking place the next morning. It was a great surprise!

At the salon I got the first-class-treatment. Bella pumped up the volume on my color, taking my hair from boho Whitney Port to bombshell Kristin Cavallari and the man himself, Charles Ifergan – a legendary Chicago stylist with over 40 years of experience – chopped off 5 inches of my insanely thick mop and transformed it into a long-layered, below-the-shoulder do’ complete with a super side part. The change was miraculous and just what I needed to solidify my new-found freedom.

If you, too, are in the market for a break up hair cut or are just looking for a new stylist, Charles Ifergan is your place. Lucky for you, they are offering a new promotion each week throughout the month of September(see below) in honor of “National Self-Improvement Month”.
