Midwest Music: RECORD REVIEW – Surfer Blood | Astro Coast

Surfer Blood is originally from Palm Beach, FL, so “indie pop” isn’t the first thing you think of when you hear the name of the ocean front city. Though the four 20-somethings who sound like a cross between Weezer, Yellowcard and the Beach Boys, have surpassed the south and made a name for themselves across the country.
Their just released album, Astro Coast($10.99 on Amazon), is laden with beachy beats giving you a tingle of summer fun. Fittingly, the record is covered with a bloody sharks mouth a throwback to the band’s semi-morbid name.
Surfer Blood will launch a tour in North America , a brief time in the UK, and ending it off right with four set at SXSW.
