Chicago: Black Lips Cause Turbulent Uproar

black_lips_chicago
In a violent sea of black leathers, skinny jeans and asymmetrical shags, the psychedelic punk sound of the Black Lips rocked the high ceilings of Logan Square Auditorium Saturday night.
Before the show even officially started, people were throwing their bodies against one another. As the Atlanta based band emerged, the crowd only intensified this frenzy and after snapping a few pictures it was time for me to peace out, retreating to the back with 30+ some things.
The show was enjoyable and I had only started listening to the Black Lips when my roommate turned me on to their newest album under Vice Records 200 Million Thousand. I really favored what I found to be their older releases. The self proclaimed “flower punk†band is getting back that crackled classic punk sound from albums like their 2005 release Let It Bloom.
I would ultimately recommend seeing this show if ever possible. The band is truly passionate about their music and it is apparent their following is just as crazy about them.
