Beauty Mark: Get To Know Lauren Luke
If you’re like me you send your friends every funny You Tube video you come across. And then you find out that not all of your friends have your same sense of humor. But Lauren Luke makes You Tube videos I really think you should know about.
UK makeup artist Lauren Luke posted her first You Tube makeup tutorial in July of 2007. Today she has the most subscribed to You Tube channel in the UK, writes a weekly beauty column for The Guardian, has signed a book deal, and launched her own makeup line now available at Sephora.
The thing I like about Lauren is that she’s adorable and completely real (she does the tutorials from her bedroom). She’s not snooty about the products she uses and her instructions are clear and easy to follow. Plus, you’ve got to love the accent. But most importantly she’s really good. Her most viewed video is a recreation of Leona Lewis’ look in her “Bleeding Love†music video, which features a heavy smoky eye and a shiny peachy lip. I love her Lady Gaga “Just Dance†look and of course, the cat eye tutorial (seen above). If you want to try something else, she has over 200 videos to choose from.
So now you know: there are more videos on You Tube than just cats in boxes and little kids dancing to hip hop.

I realize that I’m in the minority by saying this, but I think that Lauren Luke sucks. I agree that she’s not snooty, which is nice and all, but her talent is about one notch above mediocre. Furthermore, her shameless and CONSTANT begging for subscribers is incredibly annoying, and even kind of pathetic. Obviously it’s working for her, but she should rely on her own talent to bring in the subscribers, not a reminder in every video, on every sidebar description, and even on the channel’s banner.
I thought I was the only one that thought that she was crap. I get that she’s a nice person too but her make up isn’t like some of the other people who are on youtube. In my opinion, are a lot better than she is.
