For The Boys: Teen Spirit is so 1990s
In celebration of JD Salinger’sbirthday (he turned 90 on January 1), here’s a look that not onlymodernizes the pattern, but really puts some formal “oomph†intoit. An early hipster if there ever was one, Holden Caulfield–withhis red hunting cap–would certainly have worn plaid. A product ofprep schools but ultimately disillusioned by phoniness, he was grungeeven before Kurt Cobain was. In honor of that, then, a melding of thetwo worlds–East Coast prep and hipster casual–to diversify the look.
