Along with our editor, I too rock the mighty Leo status (3 more days!). And one of my favorite designers, Betsey Johnson–whom I love, love, LOVE–also calls herself a Leo.
August 10th marked Betsey’s birthday and the 30th anniversary of her eponymous collection with business partner and friend, Chantal Bacon. The pair officially celebrated on July 31st in Soho. Alongside family, friends and fans they sipped pink champagne and ate birthday cupcakes. Read a WWD tribute to the pair here.

For my birthday I would normally settle for an amazing B-Jo party dress, but this year I’ve decided to dream for a bigger and better Betsey…Betseyville. In 2003, while on vacation in the Mexican Riviera, Betsey bought a little hotel and turned it into her magical dream home, Betseyville. In 2004 she purchased another property, “Villa Betsey,” and began renting Betseyville to the public.

Betseyville houses eight in four individual “palapa roof” style bedrooms/cottages, two kitchens and one lounge room–all aesthetically Betsey. It comes with two swimming pools, lots of garden/tanning space, satellite TV, internet access, books, games and her live-in staff. During the off season (from May to October) you, me and them can rent Betseyville for $5500/ week. Divide that by eight…$687.50 for a week of living a la Betsey?!?! Not to shabby.

I’ve put it on my birthday wish-list and am keeping my fingers crossed. Check out more at betseyville.com

  • It’s only fitting that Betsey Johnson is a Leo!

That place is amazing, if only I had a (much)bigger budget, we could have The MidWasteland go to Mexico…!
