LA-VINTAGE-PROMO

Katy Perry and Snoop are right, there MUST be something in the water on the left coast. Though, I'm not talking about the girls. Take a look at LAVintage.com and you'll see what I mean.

The California-based vintage site is home to a seemingly-endless collection of well-edited vintage garments from the 60s through 90s with some pieces dating back as far as the 40s. Catering to both men and women, they offer authentic hand-picked items that are so on-trend they look like they just walked off the runway. But like all good vintage, everything you see is one-of-a-kind so act quick if you spot a must-have.

While you're there, you have to check out their blog for some kick-ass style inspiration and advice on how to translate vintage garb into modern gold.

HERE'S THE DEAL: Enter PROMO CODE: midwaste15 at checkout during the month of JUNE to get 15% off in their online store.

Midwest Music: FREE Dead Weather Show in Chicago This Saturday! Shhhh...It's a Secret

By: Monica Dimperio

the dead weather chicago kin concert

Alternative supergroup, The Dead Weather(Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Jack White (The White Stripes and The Raconteurs), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs)) is playing a Microsoft KIN-sponsored show this Saturday. The best part, it's FREE! Here's the catch, the location is sealed until the day of the show and it's first come first served. All we know is that it will be held in an obscure location. Previous KIN shows were held at a classic car club and a community center. So let the guessing begin!

I haven't been this excited since the Q101 Weezer scavenger hunt in the 90's which ended up being held at a skating rink. If this is anything like that, it's going to be AMAZING!!

RSVP to the show’s Facebook event page to be the first to hear details. You should check out the KIN, too, especially if you are one of those weirdos still using a flip phone.

See you Saturday!

ALL is a new knitwear collection from Minneapolis fashion designer, Annie Larson. Composed of 10 pieces, the selection of midweight cotton basics are anything but. Boxy tanks, sweaters, and comfy-looking legwear in patterns that are ever-so reminiscent of 80s Coogi. Downplayed pastel tones and checkerboards remove the Cosby cliche and add a jolt of North Shore-chic.

Our faves are the Sticker Stripe Box Top, which bears a striking resemblance to a sweater we wore in Kindergarten and the Checker Stripe Bike Shorts that are a perfect fit for every fresh princess.

Chicago: Disco Demolition T

By: Monica Dimperio

May 17th, 2010

"Disco Demolition Night was a promotional event that took place on Thursday, July 12, 1979, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois. It was held during the twi-night doubleheader baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers.

Chicago disc jockey Steve Dahl devised a promotion that involved people bringing unwanted disco music records to the game in exchange for an admission fee of 98¢. The records would be collected, placed in a large crate in center field, and blown up by Dahl. READ MORE"
