My Decade in Style

After writing a style retrospective of the 2000’s for Wear Windy City, it dawned on me that I’ve have a pretty interesting decade myself. I’ve gone through several hair colors, boyfriends, apartments, and, above all, style changes.
Some of my clothing choices have come and gone while others have stayed. Though, no matter how awful some of my fashion from this decade was, it willalways be unforgettable for me. I spent the last years of my teens to the last years of my twenties figuring out who I am (and who I want to be) throughout the last ten years and those life changes were ultimately showcased in my clothing.
I’m looking forward to what the next decade will bring. I can only assume it will include a wedding dress and maternity jeans but who knows. Only time will tell and I am very excited to find out.
THE TIMELINE
2000 – 2001: High School graduation. Freshman year of college. Got my nose pierced.
2001 – 2002: Gained 10 lbs. Got my belly button pierced. Had a Jersey Shore tan. Loved cowl necks.
2002 – 2003:  Lost 25 lbs. Bought every graphic t Diesel produced.
2003 – 2004: Favorite items of clothing: Pink pointy toe stilettos and dark denim super flared Citizens of Humanity jeans.
2004 – 2005: Worked at Lacoste. Entered a Preppy phase.
2005 – 2006: Died my hair black. Became a “hipster”. Deep V’s made up 1/2 of my wardrobe.
2006 – 2007: Still a “hipster”. Favorite items of clothing: AA Double U Dress, skinny jeans, and white boots.
2007 – 2008: Wore all Urban Outfitters, all the time.
2008 – 2009: Fell back in love with vintage. Wore a navy blue wrap dress to see Obama give his acceptance speech.
2009 – 2010: All black everything.
