Music: Minnesota Beatle Project

If Santa brought you a lump of coal or not enough homegrown music this year, then I suggest checking out the Minnesota Beatle Project compilation.
One can never get enough of classic Beatles tunes, and the disc totes unique covers by Minnesota artists in the name of good causes. 100% of the proceeds of the album go toward supporting and enhancing music programs in Minnesota public schools.
My personal favorite track on the cd is the soulful and unique spin cast on “Across the Universe†by Nicholas Mronzinski. Other artists on the disc include: singer songwriter-Jeremy Messersmith with Zach Coulter of Solid Gold, and folk-pop band- Romantica, all of whom are on to SXSW as showcase artists this March. As a bonus, the disc features “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band†as performed by an 80-piece Anthony Middle School Concert Band who were 2009 recipients of musical instruments from this program.
The album is available locally in MN at Electric Fetus and Schmitt Music stores, and outside of MN on iTunes. I recommend purchasing the physical cd, if possible, for a view of album artwork by budding MPLS/St. Paul student artists.
